Steve Brant is tstevemuseumheadshothe Founder and Director of the Route 66 Spirit of America Museum, which opened in June of 2023 on Route 66 in Stroud, Oklahoma (halfway between Oklahoma City and Tulsa). The mission of this museum is to help heal the spirit of America. It does this through exhibits that focus on the ideas, attitudes and beliefs that shaped the Founding Fathers’ work and the people who have moved America forward throughout its history. Those people include not just pioneers of science and industry but "ordinary heroes” of America’s cities both big and small.

The American spirit includes a commitment to continuously improving our ability to help everyone pursue the goals of "life, liberty and happiness,” which is why the United States is called “the great American experiment.” This great experiment has been challenged in the past, both from within (the Civil War) and from outside (World War II). And it is being challenged again today. This is why Steve created his museum: to help the American experiment succeed, by advancing the lessons learned by the people Steve has studied and through Steve’s own personal and career experiences.

Steve was a program manager with the Army Corps of Engineers and NYC Department of Transportation for 15 years, after which he spent 30 years in the sustainable development and corporate social responsibility fields. He moved to Route 66 in July of 2021 to create this museum. Steve has a B.S. in Civil Engineering and 15 years of advanced studies in organizational development with Drs. W. Edwards Deming and Russell L. Ackoff (a renowned Wharton professor). He helped lead the Community Quality Councils Committee of the American Society for Quality and contributed to the early work of the UN Global Compact. He is a board member of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association and a member of the Oklahoma Museums Association and the American Alliance of Museums.
